Following the launch of the MTN App in 2019 and its refresh in 2022, telecommunications group MTN has now unveiled the next-generation version of the application.

The new MTN App introduces enhanced innovation and significantly improves the user experience, giving customers full control of their digital journey and connected lives.

“This launch unlocks new digital possibilities with an app that is smarter, faster and built to adapt to ever-evolving customer needs. “With a strong focus on innovation and rapid advancement, this is another game-changer for the industry by MTN,” says MTN South Africa online and telesales GM Tania Ladopoulou.

The new MTN app is built on advanced new technology, modified features and a robust code base, driving innovation and personalisation and enabling simplified, personalised experiences.

The company further incorporated enhanced security to combat fraud, with secure logins utilising MTN ID guaranteeing smooth and secure account access.

“The MTN App is a centralised digital gateway unlocking enhanced functionalities, with a fresh and modern look ensuring fast access and ease of use,” says Ladopoulou.

The zero-rated MTN App enables customers to link all their MTN numbers in one app, allowing them to manage their MTN world in one place, change price plans and share data with friends and family through a new DataShare function, while customised Made4U bargains provide offers that are tailored to each customer’s use profile.

The app also allows users to customise the home screen with applets for quick access to key features, and to access App-Only recharge offers and deals, which can lead to savings of up to 70%.

“The app also features a dark mode, minimising eye strain and enhancing power conservation with its elegant design. Users can check when they are due for an upgrade and manage their home Internet portfolio, bypassing the customary lineups,” Ladopoulou continues.

The launch followed a successful limited release to beta-testers in February.

The beta-testers were able to manage multiple account lines in one place and to manage prepaid plans, SuperFlex and upgrades, while setting limits, tracking use, viewing balances and accessing invoices.

“After the beta phase’s success, we are ready for a nationwide rollout and to bring the joys of the digital world to more people. “Old and new users can enjoy every interaction, from button taps to animations, for a seamless digital experience,” says Ladopoulou.

“We are incredibly pleased to be able to bring these modern, versatile and solution-orientated features to the market today.”

In addition to interactive games to drive app use, future benefits will include sky plan management, business account management and management of mobile money and insurance accounts, concludes Ladopoulou.
